Bolt Questions : Engine bay

Hey yall

Just had a quick question , I just swapped my 69 front end for a 71 front end on my cst and i want to do new hardware (broke a few bolts in the process) So i was wondering do they have kits i can buy to replace all these bolts (crossmember to frame bolts, engine mounts to cross member an frame bolts , etc) or can i just go down to my local hardware store an pick up some grade 8's ?

Thanks in Advance - Aden

maybe. But i usally get double screwed by going to fastenal. You have to 500 at a time or something. Plus I had to waste time measuring them. And wondering if thats the OE size or just what the PO had laying around.

I havent used a bolt kit but I was looking the other day and saw that and thought it would save some pain.

When you count in your time to measure, run some place and count/bag, the kits are a bargain. Plus most hardware stores, at least in this neck of the woods, don't carry loose stock anymore, just those over priced bags of three bolts, washers, or nuts.

Get a kit from a parts supplier for these trucks. You'll thank me later.

If you were reusing all of the bolts but a few... then I would say hit the hardware store.

I always joke with my local hardware guy that I've bought every bolt there for my truck, one at a time. We also have the 30' wall of drawers. Glad the orange and blue boxes haven't put him out of business.

If I was doing what you're doing, Shaker, it would probably be worth a few extra bucks to buy a bolt kit.

I would miss Pete at Moorestown Hardware though...

TSC has grade 8 bolts, nuts, and washers by the pound. Best deal around...
