My new truck

Ok, I just offered a guy some money for a 1961 C60, and he accepted. Now what? LOL. Didn't think he would take my offer. Now I need to find a master cylinder for it. I don't know where to get parts for these classic heavy trucks.I have some pictures on my phone, I will try to post them here soon. It is green with an inline 6, manual trans, 2 speed rear, hyd drum brakes, a wooden stake body on it that seems to be endless in length. Hope the wife thinks its cool!!!

Thats a good looking truck, most body parts will interchange with 1/2 tons except the front fenders, You can still get master cyl, and wheel cyl through Napa or Carquest, good luck on your project!

Nice truck! Looks pretty clean and looks like it has nice straight sheet metal. Check on your wheels though. They could be "Widow Makers".

That is one nice looking truck. It sure looks solid and rust free. You made a good buy. Is there any explaining to your wife that you need help with? LOL

Going to get a battery for her today. I am going to try and get going and get it home today. Showed pictures to the wife yesterday, told her I bought it for her. She was not impressed, so I gave her some money to go get her nails done. She got over it. The stake body is not a tilt or anything. This was an old tobacco truck from the area. Very straight sheet metal. Yes I paid less than the 800 asking price. Can't wait to get the truck home and wash it. I was wondering about the wheels myself, will have to get some modern wheels for it.

If you find any others in that condition near that price, please give me a shout!

Definatly need to get some wheels for her, has the center split Firestone wheels. Needs brake work, no brakes whatsoever. Water pump leaks, needs hoses and a belt too. Need to cut the stake body back some, overhangs the frame aleast 5 feet. I will post some more pictures soon.

Wondering if an Izusu NPR would be a good donor for a modern drivetrain, axles, brakes, wheels, A/C, heat. Got to go get my tape measure and find an NPR now. 4cylinder diesel with auto trans, I can see it now.

Well, if it were mine, I'd be keeping it all original. With a little bit of work, you would have it fixed and ready for the road in no time.

Cleaned her up inside and out today. Cut the stake body even with frame, stake body is in sad shape. Body looks real good, has some rust issues in the
bottoms of fenders and sides of hood. Roof gutter is surfaced rusted, I will clean that up ASAP, treat the rust that I can't remove and seal it with some
epoxy primer to keep it as good as possible.

Realistically I will repair the original equipment. My first step is to find some different wheels and tires for it.Then rebuild the brake system. I think the hardest parts right now will be the wheels, I don't even like looking at the center split wheels, LOL. But if I can't find brake parts for it don't want to be out money for the wheels and tires if I have to ultimately change out the axle and front suspension. Talking to a friend of mine at the fire house last night, he seems to think all the parts are available at Fleet Pride. Last truck he did was a Ford that is where he picked up his parts.

Regardless of what you do with it ,you did good on it .Cant wait to see where this one goes .

Re: My new truck

As your friend has mentioned, all the parts should be available with no problem. Although you may have to order them. There is a guy on another truck board I belong to who is pretty good at finding parts and the part numbers that you would need. Let us know if you need any extra help with it.

There is also a Wheel expert on the other board. His name is Grigg. Both these guys are at Stovebolt.com in the Big Bolts section.
