Hi all, ive been lurking for a while but recently just purchased this truck. So far i couldnt be happier with it. Seems to be all original from what i can tell, numbers matching everywhere true 3/4 ton GMC, on the repaint from previous owner they must have pulled the glove box sticker but...
72' GMC Super Custom. No Rust at all original Missouri truck, if any it was repaired the right way. PPG orange, original paint on firewall with factory crayon marks. I cant get over how clean this truck is. Only odd thing is it has a dana 60 rear end (not sure on the 4:10)and selectro hubs, and no gmc logo on the hood, where these options back in 72' ? thanks all i will be around here for a while. Need a 4" lift and 16x10 steel wheels !!!! He gave me the original 16x8's but i want the wide look. |

Welcome! That's a nice truck - post up more pics when you can. The Dana 60 is correct for a 72 3/4t GMC 4x4 (a Chevy K20 like mine had an Eaton HO52) and I don't believe the GMC was on the hood in 72. The Selectro hubs are aftermarket - Spicer hubs are what it would have from GM if it came with front locking hubs as an option. Pete

Welcome and nice truck! How big of tires do you plan to put on your truck? If you do have 16x8 rims that is the correct width for 285-75-16 tires (33in). You measure the wheel width inside to inside. Factory wheels are typically closer to 6.5in wide. I have 8in on mine and like you I wanted to put on 10in wide wheels but the tire shop strongly suggested I buy the 8in wide wheels for the tire size I listed. I think the tires are about 11 wide so they look much wider than stock. either way post pics with your new wheels!

the stock ones may be 6.5 not positive, they are laying in the bed of the truck with tires ate up tires mounted on them, havent got the tape measure out yet. Was thinking 8 cause i had rallys on my 85' and pretty sure they were 8's. Thought that may be a standard. Ya im wanting to go with a true 33" tire but want the wheels to stick out the side of the truck a little in the back without running spacers, not a fan of the spacer/adapter if i dont have to.
