Here to run battery hot?

Im putting my 305 back into my 83 Silverado. I'm curious where is the best place to run the positive wire from the battery to? You know, the one that has a bendable clip holding it to the frame. I cant remember exactly where it was originally run to (starter solenoid im assuming). Some have told me to the starter. Some have said the alternator (mine wasnt). Opinions?

I found mine must have run to the starter as well, because the hot wire has tabs that line up with the notches on the starter solenoid. Other than that one positive wire, do you guys run any other positive wires from the battery, to ensure proper voltage to something?

Unless there are some other accessories hooked directly to the positive post on battery,Usually only one cable from + side of battery to the large post on the starter solenoid, all my trucks are this way. It's hard to say after 30 years, who's played around with the factory wiring...
