Why do some C10's have hood emblems and some dont?
 

Hey guys, Im going to be buying this truck hopefully tomorrow and im just curious why this truck doesnt have a hood emblem and some do. Thanks for your help

Someone either filled the holes or put a 71-72 hood on it.

Someone went to the trouble to make it not have one (they also removed the front fender emblems). The truck may have also had side trim. Seems like there are a lot of people who prefer a Smoooooth appearance.

Yeah the more research and people I talk to the more I find out. Idk why some would want the smooth looks over original

Do aftermarket hoods come pre-drilled? I don't remember seeing a choice between GMC & Chevy (which would have different holes).

My truck had all the emblems removed and trim removed when it was painted in the late 80's. that was the cool thing to do back then. Now the stock trim and emblems are back in style on these years of trucks.

The smooth look is in now if that's what someone wants. And,that's your answer why...it's what they like.

Also most people back in the 70's and 80's didn't want to pay GM their high prices for trim because repos were not really out yet. It was cheaper to just fill the holes.

I surprised that nobody has stated the obvious. 69 and 70 trucks all had the bowtie emblem on the hood. 71 and 72 trucks had the bowtie on the grille and nothing on the hood. As Henry50 said in post 2, your truck has a 71/72 hood or someone removed it and filled the holes.

good looking truck though
