Bought an automatic adjusting orifice tube, doesn't seem to fit???

Purchased one specifically for my 87. It really doesn't want to slip in to the evaporator tube. Are they supposed to be really tight and hard to install? I was thinking it would just slip right in.

Get a refund on the automatic adjusting orifice tube. Find a napa dealer the stock stuff is still available or find a Four Seasons ac parts dealer. The part should slide right in.

I tried a regular one too. It didn't fit either. Slid in further than the adjusting one but still didn't seat all the way in. I didn't put oil on the o rings though. That might help it slide in better.

Do you have it in the right tube? The tab goes out. and point to the condenser

if you bought some thing like this, the the hole goes out.... I just take needle nose and push it in there.

Yep, lower evap tube going in just like you showed. Starting to think the evaporator may be wrong. I replaced it too. It hooked up fine though and fit perfect.

It definitely doesn't want to go in though. I really had to work to get the old one out too. If I push any harder in its going to break.
