cage style stereo head fitment??
 

How hard / easy is it to fit a cage style stereo head unit on our C-10s / K5 Blazers?? Any help would be appreciated. I'm going to use the Alpine CDA9883 unit. Up front, I'm not concerned on keeping the stock look... I'm more concerned about using the Alpine unit.

I would check the Crutchfield website for some instructions on how to install this. You do have to cut out some metal, which is a non-reversible act, and purists don't like this. I have an Alpine in my 83 C20 and you need to get a cover plate designed to cover the rough cut opening when you install the head unit. Crutchfield and others sell the whole kit, along with a special adapter that allows you to just plug one end into the existing radio harness and the other end into the head unit. My Alpine has one sticky station selector push button, so I don't like it for that reason. I had a different Alpine during the 90s which was much better quality. I like a unit with large buttons.

Any pics of the Alpine in your 83 C20? I'm not interested in the purists, it's my Blazer and I'm the one driving it. Not knocking them, just not what I care about with this particular vehicle. Purity has it's time and place. Not all vehicles need to be kept stock.

not sure what size of hammer-saw was used for mine before i got it but,
so I even made it bigger
but i moved it anyway
moved the tach too,too hard to read like that
