Bed cover question

I'm able to get a Jason hard bedcover from a friend of mine. Question is its on a 2001 Silverado longbed and I have a 79 longbed. Anyone ever used a newer bed cover on our older trucks and if so did they fit nice. If any one has any pics I'd appreciate it. Thanks for the help.

I think the newer trucks are just a little bit narrower
