Trailing arm differences? '60-'62, '63-'66?

Are there any differences in the '60-'62 versus the '63-'66 trailing arms? Length, angle, etc.?

Thanks,
-Brad

I'm gonna say no MAJOR differences. I just sold a set of 1966 trailing arms with springs to a guy who installed them on his 1962. No problems with fitment at all. The 66 trucks had a different e-brake configuration and the trailing arms have a bracket riveted along the side, but functionally the trailing arms are the same. Also, LMC lists new trailing arms for 60-66 as the same part number, so that means you get the same part no matter for any 60-66.

There is a difference in the trailing arms when it comes to c20 and c10 the c20 have an extra steel plate at the rear of the arm both at the top and bottom and they are riveted to the arm these are heavy duty and were installed on the camper specials.

IIRC, the trailing arms are the same, but the cross member the arms bolt to are at different angles because the 60-62 TA are bolted to the axle closer to the backing plate than the 63-70's are.

That's what was going through my mind... I knew there was some difference somewhere.

Yes, trailing arms are spread further apart because the frames are wider in the rear. I had to weld the perches further apart on the 65 12-bolt to work on my 62 frame.

I have those heavier duty ones on my 66 C20.
I'll try and get a pic.

Im considering installing a 64 12 bolt rear end in my 62 C10 in the near future.

My original Eaton rear end is leaking pretty bad from the pinion seal and rather than fight with it and worry about crush sleeve, etc...I figured I'd just swap it out with the 12 bolt.

I see you kept the original perches in place when you installed the new ones, did you have enough room to strike a good weld bead still (cant tell from the pic)?

Did you buy your perches from CaptainFab....mind telling me what they ran price wise?

Thanks!

Yes. I slapped the new ones (from cap't) right up against the ones on the 65 12-bolt. I welded what I could to the the axle and then welded the two perches together.
