SUPER CLEAN loaded stock truck on Ebay - not mine
3 Attachment(s)
Very clean resto job on this loaded SWB. IMO, a black rear deck and a few ounces of flattening agent here and there would have made it just about flawless.

Re: SUPER CLEAN loaded stock truck on Ebay - not mine
Oh my lord, that is the finest example of a stock restoration, loaded with options that I have ever seen. Wow. Look at all the pictures on the bottom of the Craigs List ad. That thing is .......perfect. The price is maybe a bit high, but to find a truck like that, and restore it like that, would easily cost that much. Never mind how long it would take. This one is as good as it gets.

My dream truck. Colours, options, everything.

Re: SUPER CLEAN loaded stock truck on Ebay - not mine
NOT to be a nit picker, but i think firewall should be body colored, radiator hold down and hood hinges black. And gloss should be 60% of course.
To me, it's perfect. I like the "restoration + +" idea, extra gloss, etc. 35 isn't that bad, i estimated mine with the work i'll be done, should be anywhere from 15-25, depending on how paint comes out. If this is worth 30-35 and goes for it, i won't think i'm too far out of line. |

Very nice truck I like that shade of blue, and optioned out well. It's clean on the underside better than new. The gloss black is to shiny for me though, just saying now..Vernski:metal:

Re: SUPER CLEAN loaded stock truck on Ebay - not mine
Kenny at Kennys 67-72 truck restorations here in Tulsa, Ok just finished a 60-61 model truck, it is completely stock, without the cost of the truck the restoration cost $37,000.00 The 35,000 dollar figure is not too high. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy when calculating values and cost. Sure you can find a truck for $700.00 but the labor is the real cost of a build and we have a tendency to sell our own labor too cheap. This is a very nice rare truck. Kieth JMO :gmc2:

WOW! Whoever did that truck has a very good taste for a stock restore. Love the old 283! He did a very nice job. I'll bet there's over $30,000 in that truck. Thanks for sharing.

Re: SUPER CLEAN loaded stock truck on Ebay - not mine
The beauty of a truck like that, even at that price, is you could buy it instead of a new, modern truck... you WOULD essentially be buying a brand new truck.
Use it as an around-town pickup truck for a number of years, and the depreciation is going to be a TON less than a modern truck. Or, you can re-restore it, and start over. -Brad |

I like Brad's way of thinking. Enviro-friendly, too.

Brad54: I have an 07' half ton crew cab 2wd with the vortecmax 6.0L (367) cu in motor. Even shutting down 4 cylinders during cruise, etc still ends up with 15MPG combined city and highway, and i live in a flat state.
You should be able to get that or more in most classic vehicles, as i drive gently most of the time. I think the classic vehicle is a win in most categories except safety. |

sooo nice!!

Re: SUPER CLEAN loaded stock truck on Ebay - not mine
Cortcomp, a lot of trucks came with Fawn paint on the firewall. All mine have it, IIRC. Supposed to be a regional thing or something. (There are a couple threads here on it.) Also note the silver/plated hood hinges, with the springs another color. Seems like the guy really went the extra mile to get the colors right. Not sure if the gloss black is totally right, though, but who cares. It's a really nice truck!

If I keep my foot out of it, I get 17-19 highway. And that's with a front end that's worn out and scrubing, a 4bbl that's not tuned real well, an obsolete Edelbrock C4B from the '60s and restrictive small diameter exhaust manifolds. 3.42 gears and a 4spd OD manual box. There's more MPG to be had there. Safety, as you said, is a concern, but I think with a collapsible steering column, 3pt seat belt and bearclaw door latches, your safety would go WAY up. (I haven't done any to mine yet, I'm sorry to say). There's nothing like seeing the world through a wrap-around windshield and vent windows every day! -Brad |
Re: SUPER CLEAN loaded stock truck on Ebay - not mine
My 66 GMC had a fawn firewall also....(i painted it back like that)...they were painted differently depending on which plant they were produced in. Kieth :gmc2:

Re: SUPER CLEAN loaded stock truck on Ebay - not mine
That's really nice. I still would like it if the bed wood had been put back black, and the '70 Chevelle SS style exhaust tips are a little out of place, but mine is such a pile of crap in comparison that I really don't have much room to be too critical.
