Oil sensor whole on block is plugged

Was going to put line from sensor to hole on block. However, it looks like po blocked hole with something. He might have even welded it but it is kinda hard to tell. What do think I should do? Scrap the idea of having a working oil gauge? Drill a hole in the screw?

I don't know why someone would weld it in. I believe it's a 1/8" pipe thread.

Maybe you could take a closeup photo and better see what's going on.

It should be 1/8" npt thread. There is another oil pressure port if that one is permanently blocked, it is right above the oil filter and it is 1/4" npt threads.

That is the port... it looks like they either broke something off in the hole, or rammed something in there to block it off. I wouldn't mess with it and just use the other port.

Where is the other port? And I was kinda thinking the same thing. I could see not getting the port sealed since it looks like it is stripped.

That pic looks like a well rounded off plug to me. Friend of mine had same sort of thing on a Monte Carlo years ago. We twisted his out when we did intake swap. You might be able to twist it out if you can get ahold of it.

Ports are by the distributor, over top the oil filter, and on top front of the block by timing cover.

It is right above the oil filter. http://www.transamws6.com/pics/transam/piston02.jpg

#5 piston looks great! Someone drop a screw down the carb? ;)

Looks like it, lol. I don't know the history of this one I googled a pic to show the oil pressure port.

OK, found maybe port by oil filter. There is nothing blocking it and there is oil around the area. I stuck the nylon down the hole and it was like a bottomless pit. Probably went in about a foot and a half. Next to it is a bigger hole. Do you think this is it? Why would it be open? This also might explain why I leak oil in my garage.

Re: Oil sensor whole on block is plugged

Look at the image BurnoutNova posted. The oil galley plug is seen right above the oil filter. A foot and a half deep sounds excessive. That passage should only go to the vertical galley just above the #5 main cap that goes up to the plug by the distributor. Here is an image from the web. It also shows the often forgotten hidden press-in cup plug under the cap which diverts oil to the filter.
