Glamour Clear
 

Have any of you used this clear before:

The paint store told me and my painter about it and we are going to give it a try. It is sold as Autobaun Automotive Finishes on this web site:
http://www.cpscoatings.net/CPS_Coatings/Automotive.html

It mixes 2:1 for a total of 6 RTS quarts. Out the door it cost me less than $110. Compared to nearly $400 for PPG 2021 clear...

The store manager is very trusted around here and told us that quite a few painters love this stuff and it lays down like glass and very easy to buff. For the cost, we are going to give it a shot and see what it looks like.

What are you thoughts on it..

In my opinion, clear is one those things, that you get what you pay for. $400 vs. $100 seems like a HUGE difference, when just comparing that one item. But given the cost to restore something, saving $300 on the entire project by using a cheap clear, is false economy. Especially on something as important as the longevity of the paint finish.

Too right. So many people are worried about using cheaper materials to save a few dollars with out thinking the end game. What is the cost (money and time) to redo something in a year or two? Pretty sure it will be more then 300.00

While I agree on you statments, I expect that this paint job will actually be redone before the clear gives out. Only time will tell...

He has used an even cheaper clear with outstanding results and longevity. Seems that a lot of custom painters around here are using this clear with very good results.

Never hate on a guy for giving it a try. as long as you are open to the possible issues that typically come with lower grade/cost materials. Please do not mistake what I am saying, I do not personally know anything about this brand of clear. I am speaking from 23 years of experience in the industry. You might hit a home run and find a gem of product. It has happened before.
When it comes to my personal stuff and my customers rides, I do not want to take the chance with something that has not proven its longevity of quality. To much headache to redo a project on a gamble. How ever you choose to go, let us all know how you liked it. Good luck
