Opinions?

http://salem.craigslist.org/cto/3906224942.html

What do you guy's think of this 71? Supposed to be a 472 Cadillac and th400.
It doesn't look too bad to me, however, I haven't seen those floorboards yet >.<
Also, I'm clueless to the 472 Cadillac. He isn't sure which year it is, (i sent him a link with some information for identifying it). This truck would be a lsx project for me.
Does anyone know if the 472 Cadillac is worth anything?

Thanks for looking! would love any feedback (even if its negative) :)

A good friend had one in his '74 Caddy and riding around in it, it seemed capable of hauling the car and about 1600lb of people flesh around town. It had never been worked on and it kept plugging. I'd say it is fairly worthy although I am certain it was configured for smooth operation of a heavy car.

A running 67-72 Chevy truck under $2k is a good deal, any day of the week.

For as long as I can remember, I've always seen trucks powered with a 472 Caddy motor. My understanding is that they are good solid motor for reliability with lots of get up and go. You should be able to turn that 472 around on CraigsList for 400-500 easy, which would put more into your budget for the LSX.

The 472 and th400 for 400 - 500?
And that sounds good. I'll get to have some fun before I tear it apart. :ennyd:

Dang! If I had a way to get it back to Iowa, I'd go up there and buy it!

Sounds cool, Caddy engines are pretty popular or they were. Huge cubic inches and they had a 500ci too.

Is it just me or am I looking at grass on both sides of the rocker? I can clearly see where they welded part of a new rocker on.

I must have read over the "moss" statement  Either way every truck I have seen in these parts needs the floor edge, rockers, pillars, and corners, sooo pretty much typical around here except moss growing on the floors. We dont have no stinking moss. Just rust and red clay mud which causes the rust :smoke:

Hahaha, why would you not get the moss out before you listed it? I thought the floor board was gone at first.
You generally can't go wrong buying a 67-72 for under 2k and go wrong, like BruthaMan said.

Just take a good look at that rust. I'm from western Washington so I'm well aware of how wet it is in the PNW. I'm not saying it ain't worth buying I just think if the rust is worse than he says than that's a good way to beat him up on the price. Good luck
