What song would go with your truck?

I know this is kind of off topic, but does pertain to what music was going on at the of our trucks when they were produced:

I was thinking about songs that were popular in the year they were made. Not songs you just like~ it has to be specific to the year of your truck and what was going on then. I was hoping mine could have been Wolverton Mountain (1962)! IT was played alot on the juke box at my high school. Instead, I chose Jim Ed Brown's ~ The Three Bells made in 1959 (I was 4 then), which also went to write ,"Pop a top" one of the greatest country hits ever.;)

Re: What song would go with your truck?

I wanted to say either funk #49 or life's been good by Joe Walsh, but that's about 20 years too late..
Then I wanted to say Runaround Sue by Dion and the Belmonts, but it didn't hit the charts till 1961...
So I'll go with
The Midnight Special
Let The Midnight Special - The Weavers - (Lyrics) - YouTube

Although.... if we could pick an even older song, I definitely choose Minnie the Moocher
Cab Calloway - Minnie the Moocher - YouTube

Maybe even Swing, Swing, Swing by Benny Goodman

I would have to go with Summertime Blues by Eddie Cochran.

The lady said, "...it has to be specific to the year of your truck" you bozos! lol. Don't yoo reed dy-rek-shuns?!

1955 hits:

Rock Around the Clock, Bill Haley and the Comets. It was in American Graffiti, that's good enough for me!

...and one of my all time favorites from one of THE all time greatest vocal groups that no one ever talks about. "Only You" by The Platters

Man, why doesn't anyone cover their songs? Answer: They can't!

That man singing that sent the chills up your spine would be the late great Tony Williams he passed away in 1992. Great singer that is for sure.

How about some do wop groups of the 50's such as
The Heartbeats

Clyde Mcphatter who was Elvis's favorite singer

Clyde Mcphatter with the Drifters

The Skyliners

The penquins

Little Anthony and the Imperials who sang tears on my pillow but my jams is this

And don't get me started on the Delta Blues with artist like Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, Lighting Hopkins and the list goes on.

This must not be a thread for the youngsters on here:lol: I remember my dad had the "cruising to the oldies" cassette sets that i think Shell used to sell a long while back. I think he still has them too.

But I'm more a gut bucket Delta Blues man at heart. You city slicker like your blues clean and I like mine low down and dirty.lol Like this
Howlin Wolf - Smokestack Lightin
Howin Wolf - Meet me in the bottom

Chuck's Sweet little Sixteen

B.B Kings Sweet Sixteen I love this song it reminds me of my grandmother she use to bump B.B King all the time when I visited her.

You got that right. Little Richard in my mind is the first true rock star.lol I'm talking grungy music with the lifestyle.lol He's music was wild and out of this world for his day. I like this all from Lucille, long tall sally, rip it up, good golly miss molly, to the the girl can't help it. Little Richard was the man or girl depending how you look at it.lol
