Phantom grilles

Just wanted to get everyone's opinions on Phantom grilles. I just got a black one then did the research. .. kinda did it backwards lol. But I have read that its illegal and makes lighting at night bad? Any input on these grilles would be greatly appreciated. Hope I didn't waist my money.

I ran one on mine for few years. Cops up here gave me **** about it, but it was not considered illigal. I did not notice a difference in night time driving. Would I put one on again? Probably not.

I have one and had no noticeable decrease in light output. Cops don't hassle the guys running around with blacked out headlights, I doubt they even notice my grill.
