1960 And 1961 Owners Please Help
As some of you may know, I volunteered to help member twouvakind determine the changes necessary to make his windshield wiper delay work with the '60-'66 trucks. I have sorted through the wiring and wiper switches for the '62-'66 years, but I need help in confirming the wiring on the '60 and '61 trucks. I have a cab with wiring, that I believe is a '61 (VIN tag is gone) and a corresponding wiper switch. This seems to be about the only change to the wiper wiring. I am having trouble finding a '60 and '61 locally to confirm my suspicion that the '60 and '61 both have the same wiper wiring. So I was hoping some of you guys with '60's and '61's could take a peek at your wiper switch wiring and let me know if yours looks the same or similar to the pics below.
And here are a couple pics of the wiper switch. This one happens to be a 2 speed with the washer. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psb7054172.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...pscf92e1b0.jpg I also learned something in doing all this research on the wiper motors and switches. I used to think that '63 was the first year for the 2 speed and washer option. That is not so, they were available in at least '61 and '62. I have not confirmed if it was available in '60. So if one of you has a '60 with the 2 speed wipers and washer, please post up. |
Re: 1960 And 1961 Owners Please Help
Don't know if it helps any CaptanFab, but the kick panels w/cables should be 60-61, so I think your right on the year. Also....my 2 speed switch and wiper motor were supposedly pulled from a 62 and I have the same switch as posted above. Im just missing the wiring harness, so can't help there.

Finally made it home tonight.
Mine is single speed, and GMC. The wire is white (I think). |
Re: 1960 And 1961 Owners Please Help
Thanks for the confirmation VonDog. I was hoping that the '60 wiring was the same as the '61 wiring

Yep, the '60-'63's all seem to have just the white wire for the single speed wipers

Re: 1960 And 1961 Owners Please Help
Captain,
I have a '61 Chevy standard package and I confirmed that it has the original 2 speed wiper motor. No washer. Did you get your pic you needed or is this enough? |
Re: 1960 And 1961 Owners Please Help
My main objective with this thread was to confirm that both the '60 and '61 with the 2 speed wipers and washers, have the same switch and wiring as in the pics that I posted in post #1. This is in a effort to help member twouvakind with his installation instructions for the wiper delay that he is making for the '60-'66 trucks. Thanks for your input.
