Center cap horn retainer assembly

Hello,
What is the proper way to assemble these parts for my horn? I am not sure everything is there, I got these from a 75 donor truck. Thanks for any help.

Re: Center cap horn retainer assembly

The spring plate goes in first with the center part bumped up towards you (away from the wheel). Next is the retainer cup with the notch facing upward just like in your photo. And finally, the plastic insulator and 3 screws to hold it all in place.

Getting everything to stay in place can be a little tricky ... sometimes the spring plate has a tendency to slip out of position so be sure to check that before fully tightening the screws.

When the horn button is pushed, the spring plate should flex downward in the center and make contact with the metal center hub of the steering wheel. That is what completes the circuit to ground to activate the horn relay. So make sure that part of the spring plate and steering wheel hub are clean and rust free.

Thanks Ray,
I thought that was the way it came off the truck at the yard, but I had grabbed a number of things that day and just could not remember the details on the horn. I know in the pictures it appears pretty rusty, but I think it's down to good metal. thanks again.
