sounds steep for a I6 low/no option truck. the only saving grace is that it's a short bed.

OK , first off no pictures , it sounds like a dandy truck here is my take on it (YOU ASKED) I would inspect the truck underneath if the cab supports and floor pans are good and the frame is clean and it runs and drives good I would say (WITH NO PICS) $3500 the $4500 price would be fine if it was a fleetside the stepside takes off the value , it sounds like a great truck if you get it post some pics !

Re: Fair price for 71 SBSS

I am very picky myself on these trucks , and if you don't inspect them REAL GOOD ! at a glance a truck you would not want would look ok ? I see them all the time rusted bonded up junk asking big money , the truck you describe sounds solid and is the type of truck you want to find , if you like the stepside that's great ! but rule of thumb the fleetside will sell for more money and even if you like the stepside you could still point out to the owner that the fleetsides sell higher as a bargaining tool ,, hope you get it sounds like a good truck ,,

Depending where you are at that's not a BAD price. Up here in the rust belt that seems like a good price but inspect it first.

here in the VA WV KY area you simply cant find them for that amount , if you did find one for say $1500 it would be a POS

I was figuerin on 3500 - 4000 if its as good as described and photographed. Rust holds no mystery. Just weld it out or if not critical, down here ye'll die before it gets too bad and ya can ignore it.

Trucks must be real cheap where you guys live, here in SoCal that would be a $4500-$6500 truck all day long. $4500 would sell real quick here.

I would check it over real good.

In my part of central NC, there are no original rockers and cab corners left on anything but a truck that lived in a garage all its life...which could be the case here.

But you are desribing a desert truck, and its way greener/wet around here.

Right here in the general area where I live THEY ARE NOT HERE AT ANY PRICE ! They rotted to the ground ! You have to drive 3 hours away from my house to get into good truck survivor turf ,

Everyone has diff opinions about rust. Im from Michigan. I bought an 87 in 98 for $2,000 and it was a rustbucket POS. To me, any running shortbed 67-72 without rust is worth $4,500.

The 65 I have now has 2 rockers and 2 perfect cab corners. It was an Easley SC truck.

Believe this 71 has one rocker. We'll see. Even if-its easy work.

I was strictly speaking of 67-72 year trucks...they just seem to rust around here.

I hope this truck is as nice as it seems it is....looking forward to seeing it.
