1987 stepside fender
Hi, My name is Marlon, and I'm in Canada. I have a 1987 Chev. stepside, and have done a full duel gas tank install. The only part I need is a square hole drivers side rear fender. As far as I can see there are no repop's. And aside from grafting a pass. side door onto the drivers ( would be upside down ) I was wondering had anyone tried something similar, or might know of any parts dealers. Thanks!

Re: 1987 stepside fender
I have been thinking about this same installation and have convinced myself to use a short fill hose on the tank and fill through the wheel opening (no fuel door on the fender).
Would that be an acceptable alternative for you? K |
Re: 1987 stepside fender
I went through the same thing. I finally found a used fender with the square gas door. Not sure why there are no repops available when they came from the factory with a fuel door.

Re: 1987 stepside fender
Couldnt you graph in a door from a fleetside truck? Just a question, not too familiar with the stepside bed fuel doors.

Re: 1987 stepside fender
I'm not to sure, I'll have to go to the wreckers again and have a look, but I don't think so. The full neck housing might be way off.

One observation: You must have an earlier box, because in 1987 the primary fuel tank was on the driver's side. Passenger side was the secondary tank. Since you are looking for a later fender/box it seems that should help you in your search. K |
