leaf spring questions

I have a 72 Jimmy and it has a block lift which I know is not a good thing on the front. I have a source to get some used lift leafs from a 1984, I think blazer. After doing research I see the rears are the same, but front is different(main ones I am after).

What are the differences on the front? I thought most of this strait axle gear was the same.

Length is different. Older springs are shorter.

Also check the widths at the eyes. I think the later models are wider.

Re: leaf spring questions

There are kits to add longer spring on the front, longer spring will give a better ride and better articulation it's a win win.

Thanks for info.

And agree with swamprat. Mind referencing one please?

:edit:
I just measured the width of my 72 leafs. Its 2.5 at the ubolts. Its 3.0625 at the mounting eyes. Can someone with a newer model measure theres please.

Re: leaf spring questions

The longer kits are to install 52" Leaf springs. DIY4X and Off Road Design are two vendors that carry different versions of new mounts to swap over. It is mainly for extra flex from using longer springs but does result in a softer ride and increased body roll.
