Disk brake conversion on '70 Jimmy 4x4
 

Has anyone found a drum to disk front brake conversion for the 4x4s? All I can seem to find is for rear and for front 2wd. Is my only option to find a donor axle and swap the parts needed? I found another axle with what I need but i will still want to buy new rotors, calipers and pads. I believe I will also have to change booster and master cylinder and add in a prop valve. It seems like it would be a lot more convient if I could find a ready to install kit

I think if you already have the axle, then you can buy all other parts from your local parts store. Just buy factory parts for a 72.

The axle I have to get the parts off of dosen't have gears in it so I'll have to swap all the parts but i'll want as much new stuff as possible. I am also trying to find out for sure if I need a different booster and master cylinder.

Oh ok. I think the axle housings themselves should be the same. So basically you need to pull axles, then pull the whole knuckle off of each side. But if it was me I'd just pull the entire axle assembly and take it home with me. it can't possibly be that expensive. A whole disk brake dana 44 front axle should be like $150.

You don't necessaryily need a different booster. Most likely your master cylinder has a bore size that is not suitable for the disk brake calipers, so you'll need on of those. You also need a disk brake specific combination valve or at least a new pressure reducing valve for the rears. The rest is lines and hoses.
