Radios

I just got my first square body and can't wait to start digging into it. Normally, I am a Jeep guy, but my wife got my an 86 K10 LWB for me while I am deployed knowing that I have always wanted a mid-80s pickup. She took some pictures and told me the P.O. removed the original radio, and velcroed a car cd player on top of the dash?

I am going to replace it with a stereo that looks like the original radio that was in it, but with the modern amenities since this will be my daily driver (MP3, cd, etc). My question for you folks is what type of radio/stereo are you running in your trucks? Thanks.

I have two of these trucks... One is my show truck which was restored to stock and I purposely grafted the dashboard to a factory radio and dash.. the other is a military CUCV which is my beater work truck and that came with no radio. The beater is used by my employees and therefore will get no radio....
My wife has a 66 mustang.. I bought her a radio from California mustang its an AM FM radio but it has the MPS Ext source so I can hook up the extra electronic of my choice.... I have yet to use that in the car
If you don't plan on cutting the dash there is little you can do to find a original fit radio the CDs wont accommodate anything else

I know EXACTLY what you want because I want the same thing, I'm just cheap so I'm working on a fancier delco. Right now I just want something with rear speakers lol MP3 and IPOD hookups make CDs obsolete anyway. CD deck won't fit without cutting.

Original radio/factory look plus an aux jack:

I picked up a 4 channel like this out of a Buick for 50 bucks about 6 months ago.

Re: Radios

Late 90's Chevy truck radio. My '90 has the bigger opening in the dash or bezel, so I didn't have to cut anything up. I bought an adapter plug, so it was plug and play with no cut wires. I have this same radio with a wired in iPod hook-up siting on my bench waiting to get installed. I like this set up, easy to use, good sound and no theft worries. This with some Alpines in cab corner mounts from the guy here that sells them and I'm rocking out!

I plan to leave the factory 2 knobber in the dash and eventually add one of these and just run it with my iphone no head unit needed.
