Funny Story, what's come of the customer service in the USA
So I called LMC to ask about a truck cover. This is what went down.
Me: I am looking to purchase a truck cover and have a question about product number 38-8810. Can you tell me what brand cover you carry. LMC girl: I can't tell you the manufacturer unless you give me some names.. Me: Names of manufactures that make covers..... there could be 20-30 LMC girl: We are not allowed to give names of manufactures unless you give us the name of the manufacture that you want, then I have to go ask my suporvisor. Me: Really....... Well I guess you just lost a customer. LMC girl: is there anything else I can help you with. Me: Not if you can't help me with my first question...... So who has a good cover for under 125.00? the truck stays in the garage but when it rains the truck gets wet when the garage door is up, and I want to keep the dust off it. Thanks |

That's kinda retarded why not just list the companies you sell.

Fixed that for ya. Reminds me of when I canceled my phone service. The lady concluded with "...thank you for choosing AT&T". I was thinking....didn't I just un-choose AT&T? K |

"give me a list of possible lies I could make and I'll tell you the one I remember"
that was probably her first day there. She used to work at McDonalds but got fired for recommending a Whopper to a customer |

Re: Funny Story, what's come of the customer service in the USA
Know that feeling. Tried to buy a power steering conversion for the 59 El Camino from Eckler's. They list 3 different versions, but not very specific on the difference.
My question was simply, "Which kit is the best choice for the 59 El Camino?" The lady at the order desk couldn't answer the question so she said, "I'll let you talk to the tech department. They have more knowledge, and will be able to help." Tech guy comes on the line, and I ask the same question. His answer........ "You should use the one that fits best." Ummmmmm, aren't you the guy who should know that? Last time dealing with Eckler's if I can help it. |
Re: Funny Story, what's come of the customer service in the USA
They all started as the kid behind the o****er at the local parts store. You all know the one---the store that has the computer with the pictures of parts on it.
What engine size do you have---just so they can find the number of the tail light bulb. Did you tell the LMC managers, that you were offended by their expert assistance people? If you did not, then you should---nothing changes without action. I stopped in their showroom a few years ago and a gentleman was escorting some individuals that turned out to be foreign investors. This guy was the owner and he asked me if I would consider a product that was on his floor. Not knowing his status, I told him honestly that I would not use the one that he had in the showroom, due to the quality of the finish. Apparently he paid attention, since the showroom now has that item with a good chrome finish. Feedback from the dollar bill gets their attention. |
Re: Funny Story, what's come of the customer service in the USA
Customer service is always an issue. Unfortunately we have learned to deal with it. Years ago I called a shop up to ask some questions I had about their products. Personally I knew nothing of the product. I asked if the product was made in America or elsewhere. The guy on the phone said he didn't know. I asked if the product was forged or cast. He asked what did the website say. I asked him if he had been working there long. He asked how come. I decided to go a different route....

Re: Funny Story, what's come of the customer service in the USA
This is great information.
I bought one of the best LMC offered ($200+ dollars) LMC failed to tell me when I ordered it that it was not in stock. They charged my credit card immediately. There was an 8 week delay and did not tell me until I called them 6 weeks after my order and it still had not showed at my house. Worst part was it did not hold up. Had algae and mold grow under it and just about ruined the expensive bed cover I have. I purchased the one from the car covers website today (the one with the 7 year warranty). We will see how it holds up. |
