K30 frame question
Is a regular cab K30 dually frame the exact same as a single wheel regular cab dually. Possibly thinking about doing away with one of my cab and chassis frames and swapping some stuff over to a pickup frame. I would need to get the wider rear axle. I just want a K30 dually pickup. Been lookin at http://www.car-part.com/ for a frame since I can't find any locally. They don't list whether it is a dual or single wheel frame though.

Re: K30 frame question
I used a SRW K30 frame from a CUCV to replace the rotted frame on my 83 K30 dually. As long as they are both pickup frames and NOT Cab/Chassis frames they are the same.

But like you said the difference is the length between the cab and rear axle. I was wondering if they made a C&C frame that was the same length as say a dually. |

Re: K30 frame question
I have some frame rail after the rear spring hanger...
They must have made a bunch of different ones, never seen or heard of a frame that ended at the rear hangers. Here is a pic of mine from a while back. http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...7/P1010073.jpg |

Someone has hacked on the frame back there before I got it. I was told it used to have a welders bed on it so who knows what they did.

Re: K30 frame question
I went out and was looking at the frame thinking about going ahead and shortening it. It only lacks a few inches at the very rear of the frame so I think one could get by with that. However, there is not any provisions in the frame for shock mounts on the outside of the frame since C&C's mount on the inside of the frame. That and I don't know if a truck bed would set on the frame the way it needs to. It might just don't know. Anyway it was a thought. I have an email in on a frame but it is out in Massachusetts and I am in Illinois.

Some of the frames are cut back close to the spring hangers for the pivot point if there is a dump bed for instance. Here is a Pickup fear frame (m1008 CUCV) and my dump K30 C&C

Re: K30 frame question
Well shoot, I thought the shocks mounted on the outside of the frame for pickup frames. I was under the assumption that only the C&C trucks mounted on the inside. IF I cut the frame down I will have to cut out two feet right behind the cab in order for everything to line up.

Re: K30 frame question
Stretch the bed.

Re: K30 frame question
My dad was a pipeline welder. He build beds for all his trucks. He always shortened them down some for easier manueverability in tight spots and to make it easier to work off the back of the truck.
