Re: would ya'll stay with bias or go radial tires
Not driven much show truck, bias ply for authenticity. (if you can even find them anymore!) Anything else, radials.
That's what I would do anyway... ;) |
Re: would ya'll stay with bias or go radial tires
Radials...it will be like driving a new truck.

I have bias ply tires on my '57 Retractable HT and the bad thing about them is that they want to follow every crack and imperfection in the road. You are constantly having to "steer" it. By that I mean make corrections, because the tires want to pull you to one side or the other if they hit an uneven road surface. LockDoc |
Re: would ya'll stay with bias or go radial tires
When I started driving, virtually everything was bias-ply. Switch to radials, no contest.

Re: would ya'll stay with bias or go radial tires
Judging by your picture... you live on a very steep hill.
But seriously... like already mentioned... unless you're going for "show rig authenticity" with bias-ply tires... get radial tires. You'll be glad you did. Gary |
Re: would ya'll stay with bias or go radial tires

me i'd never consider a driver on bias plys radials is my choice |

Re: would ya'll stay with bias or go radial tires
Radial tires hold up better and perform better. There is a reason that bias-ply tires have virtually disappeared from the marketplace- it's a better product, with distinct advantages. That being said, vintage-style bias-ply tires are available. They are not cheap, they may have the improvements in material that modern manufacturing produces, but they're still the same old, short-lived, ill-handling anachronisms. Nostalgia is nice, but practical applications demand practical solutions. Coker Tire has probably the best and most extensive selection of vintage-style tires, for just about anything that rolls. Not cheap, but good.
