Front Suspension

I have a 64 Chevrolet C10 and I am wanting to upgrade to power steering and brakes. I have found a 84 GMC 1500. Will the crossmember fit under my 64 Chevy just by elongating and drilling 2 new holes. All information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The answer is yes, but from experience I would not change the crossmember, just swap the control arms, spindles/brakes, and steering components. They will fit your crossmember. It has brake line mounts that aren't on the 73-87 style crossmember. If you have them you can use conversion brake hoses from a company like CPP to plumb the disc brakes. Just my 2¢

Yes it will work just as any '73-'87 pickup based front suspension. Unless your engine is out of your truck, I would not change the crossmember. If your engine is out, then it is an easy swap. I always recommend using the entire later model steering linkage, including the idler arm. You will have to drill 2 holes to mount the newer idler arm, but this way all of your steering linkage is from the same vehicle and replacement parts are as close as your local auto parts store.
