64 cut spring plus 2 1/2 lowing spindles

Already have 1 turn cut on c20 front coils. Now I'm changing over to 5 lug early classic conversion spindles. I can get stock height or 2 1/2" drop. Any thoughts on this being too much? My rear is 3"lowering springs. I think the 1 coil should be 2" removed but they are 3/4 ton springs so maybe less. ECE said 4 1/2" is most you want to go without steering issues.

Re: 64 cut spring plus 2 1/2 lowing spindles

I had 1 1/2 coils cut off my original springs with some spindles I bought off of craigslist and it was too low. I had less than a 1/2 inch of clearance. There are lots of people who say they have 1 1/2 coils cut with 2 1/2 inch drop spindles with no problems at all. I ended up using some coils out of a 78 that I had and cut 1 coil off and It had plenty of clearance. I say get the drop spindles or you'll regret it later. Springs are cheap!

I'm thinking drop spindles as well. Although I would rather not do it twice as you say springs are cheap. Thinking the 3/4 ton springs may help in not being too low even though they are already cut 1 turn.

I've had mine in and out so many times it takes about 20 minutes a side now. At most. LOL

What's the quickest way to change out just springs? Leave upper bj connected to spindle and just drop the lower arm?

Take the upper ball joint loose, leave the nut on and smack the spindle with a hammer til it busts loose. Set a jack under the lower control arm, jack it up a tad to remove the nut, and slowly lower the jack. Make sure the truck is up in the air enough so that the lower arm has enough travel to get the spring out and not get the jack stuck.
