Had to Have it!

I saw this Saturday on a car lot, and I figured they would be stupid on the price, but it worked out and now it's mine. 89 Black with Red, just a pretty darn nice truck.

Looks good, crazy how many super clean burbs there are for a great price. So what are the plans for it?

That's the easy part I have a lowered truck, so this one is staying stock. New sound system, fix a few things, lots of detail, and drive it.

That's a good looking truck, nice score. The gauge bezel seems out of place with the power windows and locks, I thought those came on base model trucks. Looks like even the factory floor mats survived. Is the GMC grill still there?

You are right the dash bezel and trim is the plain black, and the door trim is the stainless look. That's a bit of a mystery, because nothing looks to ever been apart. It's an SLE and yes the GMC grille is in tact.

You can do that?? Hmmm...I'll have to give it a shot some day . Nah,I never could leave anything alone. Wondered if I'd ever out grow it. Still haven't,really, but have found a new appreciation in letting it be...at least one...if it's pretty nice already. Nice find!

No and I'm glad. Just drove the Suburban to Galveston from Tulsa and back towing a trailer(picked up a couple of bikes in Galveston). The old truck didn't hiccup one time and got 15+mpg. Need some shocks before I do much more, but it did great.

Joining late - nice truck!

The deal with the brushed silver trim is as follows: for the YE9 package (uplevel, like Silverado) the door trim, crash pad trim and IP cluster bezel should be brushed aluminum.

However, the brushed aluminum was just an adhesive applique so it can be peeled off. Since the base black bezel was common, used for Custom Deluxe and Scottsdale (Z62) then it still looks fine with the applique removed.

Or - it could have just been a misbuild. Somebody could have grabbed the wrong bezel and installed it in the plant, which would be unlikely since (a) the operator would key off the crash pad and doors, and (b) an inspector likely would have caught something as obvious as that.

Sorry for the hiatus. Keith as usual knows his stuff. I had noticed there was a brown color in the trim that was common to all of the plastic pieces so I would say the aluminum applique has been removed or came off of the dash pieces. I think tomorrow I will take it off the door pieces. All I have done to the truck is tune it up and changed tires with my short-wide. It has been great!
