1968 Chevy, 1968-1972 GMC Fender new never installed GM not Repop Will Ship
I really didn't want to ship this (would hate to dammage it) but it hasn't sold yet. When is the last time you saw a 1968 NOS fender? $350 plus actual cost to ship.
I bought this fender as NOS and it had the GM sticker when I bought it. It hung on my body guys wall for a year and he threw some primer on it. I know how some people get upset about what is described as NOS. This is a new GM (1968 Chevy 1968-1972 GMC) never installed passenger fender. I prefer local pickup but will meet someone within a reasonable distance. I know some people post they are traveling to certain areas from time to time and would be willing to hold it for a bit for someone if they can make some arangements. First I'll take it in this thread gets it cash or postal money order preferred, paypal +fees or "gift" $350 Thanks for looking http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps2cba91b9.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps2d55ccb9.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psf7582fd5.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psffffe8d4.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psbe13e264.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psb4032208.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psc1bfb52a.jpg Now on CRAIGSLIST |
Re: 1968 Chevy, 1968-1972 GMC Fender new never installed GM not Repop Will Ship
I was contacted by Elloiot949 and he is saying this fender is not OEM. It was bought from a local reputable seller of NOS parts and had the GM sticker and was black when I got it. From many years of storage it had a little surface rust and my body guy primed it thinking we were going to paint it and then I sold my truck. I know a few reputable members have looked at this fender and didn't question its authenticity. Elliot said there are tell tale signs so I am calling him out in this thread to show the "tell tale signs"
Here is the original WIW thread with the same pictures and the it wasn't questioned by the two that responded. am pretty sure they would know those "tell tale signs" HERE IS THE ORIGINAL THREAD I had a repeop on my Jimmy and you could see the difference. |

Give me a couple of days to figure a way to crate it. Do you have a business address that I could ship to it would save on shipping.

For what it is worth, I just shipped 2 NOS Fenders (among other things) to Canada, even with plenty of insurance it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. I used UPS.

Re: 1968 Chevy, 1968-1972 GMC Fender new never installed GM not Repop Will Ship
I am choosing not to post this publically out of respect for the integrity of this board but if anyone has a question please PM me and I will answer it... I have sent a PM to "Thealien" with pics showing the difference in a 67/68 OEM... My intentions of contacting him privately was so he could look himself and make the determinations himself rather than get into a rude exchange publicly but that seems to be the way he wants to handle things, I choose not to... Here are a few more pics for everyone to look at. I will be happy to email the high resolution 3 megapixle pics to anyone interested. I still would like to see some OEM pics of 68-72 pics of this area. Thanks

Re: 1968 Chevy, 1968-1972 GMC Fender new never installed GM not Repop Will Ship
Thanks to both of you for working this out! I know it is a hassle, but it sure helps us so we know for sure that items being sold are real GM/NOS when listed as such.

Re: 1968 Chevy, 1968-1972 GMC Fender new never installed GM not Repop Will Ship
Thanks for the pictures.
There seems to be enough variations in all those to not help at all LOL? Some have the 3 little triangle bumps at the curve and many do not. I know 1968 chevy and 1969-72 GMC all will interchange and fit. I wonder if some of those subtle changes are the difference between chevy and GMC? Or just difference in stamping facilities? Look at the tip of some of the fenders and there is a space between layers of some and no space on others? Do any of you posting pictures have an opinion on the authenticity of my fender? As I said before, I bought it with the faded GM sticker with the part number that was correct for a 1968 chevy fender I have no doubt at all to its authenticity. I want there to be no doubt for a potential buyer. |
Re: 1968 Chevy, 1968-1972 GMC Fender new never installed GM not Repop Will Ship
Looking at those pics I would have to concede that it is possible... again I will look at the one on the wall later and post what I see...

Re: 1968 Chevy, 1968-1972 GMC Fender new never installed GM not Repop Will Ship
Look at this picture here look at the small notch where it goes from brown to white (right where there is a little yellow paint), mine has the same little notch. Also look at the top right above the seam and you will see another little notch (above the hole above my camera strap)again the same as the used fender. I highly doubt a repop are going to have those same little details!

Re: 1968 Chevy, 1968-1972 GMC Fender new never installed GM not Repop Will Ship
I think it is possible that some of the oem fenders could very well be a repro ...
the trucks could have been wrecked ... I can not say one way or the other about the three diamond shape stamps must be on a NOS but was always told it was the way to tell oem from repro ... I am not saying your fender is not NOS but I must say I am no longer interested , so pass it on to next in line ...it would be interesting to get more opinions ...thanks ... |

My money is on "NOS"
This fender is identical to both of my NOS IN SEALED BOX 68 fenders that were produced in late 87'. Here are some pics of a TriPlus repo. Spot welds are smaller, folds are NOT the same, also look at the turn signal hole at the screw tab, OEM's are pointed as the repos are rounded. To me this is a DEAL for original "new" GM metal !! |
