Brake pressure switch
Hello all who read this! I replaced my front brake lines, hoses pads and brake calipers. Now I have fluid leaking out of the pressure switch. Is it possible that the switch is bad and fluid is leaking out of that or is the proportioning valve leaking? I am not the best mechanic, just know enough to get into trouble!

Re: Brake pressure switch
not to hijack your thread, but what does that pressure switch connect to anyways?
I was noticing it on my '78. I don't have ABS or even a working idiot light for that matter. I always assumed that the brake light in the hud was for the e brake, and I already know the brake lights are controlled by a mechanical pedal switch |
Re: Brake pressure switch
I have had oil pressure sending units leak through them, so not too far fetched to think that can happen on the brake one.

Re: Brake pressure switch
To answer Willett, it is connected to the HUD light. It lights up if you stomp on the brakes and wind up with no braking pressure. Of course, like most idiot lights, by the time it comes on, you already know you have an interesting situation developing.
To the OP, assume fluid can leak out of anywhere, even if the switch otherwise is still working. Try cleaning that area off with some brake cleaner. Might make it easier to see where the leak is. |
Re: Brake pressure switch
Thanks guys! I will have to clean it with some brake cleaner and see if that's the problem. I bought a new one for $6.99 so at least it's not expensive at all
