What's your winter plans?

What's you plans guys. Putting your squares away? Working on them? Saving for parts or buying parts for summer? Drive them still?

I'm looking forward to letting my truck rest for the winter. Gets new dents every winter and gets beat up. Time to let Her rest and get pieced together and fixed nice and let my other rides take the daily drive abuse. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...R/b275d74b.jpg

Drive mine except in the snow and ICE.

Unfortunately mine won't get worked on at all this winter.... In a few weeks the cover will be put on and it will get rolled outside so my wife can have her side of the garage back. This has been occupying her side all summer, and it is NOT going outside!

Mostly driving them, got 3 runners working on a 4th.They run daily between 20 & 22 days a month on average about 100-130kms/day.I actually enjoy the winter as I can put up with cold way easier than too much heat! Besides,a lifted truck is fun on drifted in lease roads!!

I've spent most of the past year putting a small shop up here and am almost done with it, so *hopefully* within a month or so I can get back to enjoying my trucks.

OK - Mine will be limited to really nice days - What is the best recommendations for winter storage and upkeep so it is able to be returned to the road in the Spring! Mine is a weekend driver only and winter is long and cold!! Even in ATL we get cold!

My '86 usually gets parked in the shed with the farm equipment and doesn't move unless I need the welder for something.

I generally try to start it once a month just to move it around the yard and perhaps keep the mice off the motor. They seem to like making nests on the intake......

This... It will be getting pretty much a frame off, with the exception of paint this winter. The plan is to have it on the road by spring. It will have a 6.0 LS2/6l90E package in it (shipped yesterday), 4/5 drop, and 20" wheels. It's my friends truck and he got it about 2 weeks ago. So far the only progress has been degreasing the undercarriage and removal of that hideous shell (a major improvement). We will start a build thread when progress is actually made.

Well as long as it is taking the bodyshop to get mine back to me I am hoping to do the following. Get cab and bed set back on the frame, put all the wiring, AC/heat duct back in, steering column, start putting interior back together and hopefully get my 355 put the rest of the way together and set it and trans in the frame. I do need to buy some fabric to redo the headliner and put it in too. All this depends on getting it back from the bodyshop.

I am stripping the trim off the body of the 83 and getting ready to have it painted. I am looking for the cheap ~ $600 paint job. Then I will be ready for the bitter cold winter weather in HotZona. Just need a pair of snow tires and chains.

I plan to enjoy my 86 Shorty this winter because next year it'll see a fresh coat of Cortez Silver which is a 1970 color and after that she won't see a lot of winters so I'll have another project to drive in the snow in the form of an 86 K20 I might buy from a buddy. Kinda funny how you get to where a truck can handle anything but is a little too nice to drive in the snow so you end up getting a "beater" 4x4 to drive.....only to fix that one up too....viscious cycle.....lol

Re: What's your winter plans?

I have a '86 GMC 4x4. The cab needs work, windshield leaks when it rains, cab corners need done and holes in the floor. So I found a good south carolina cab for a transplant. And plan or a two tone paint job.

it IS a vicious cycle!, that's why i got a 90 k1500 as a daily this time, no incentive to spend on it other than keep it running, all my money goes in the square now
which is off the road as of last week, stupid me, never checked the insurance dates on my trucks, they both ran out within days. unfortunately the '90 (daily) got the money this time. i have a couple small things to fix/upgrade on the crew anyways

I'll be putting my 82 K5 into storage in the next few weeks and build up all winter for the parts I need to finish it when I pull it out next spring. Hopefully do some more tear down and work on my 81 short box project too in the meantime. That's the plan anyway... wish me luck!

She is getting pulled into the garage and stripped down to the frame. Last winter was not good on he, running no inner fenders on salty Ohio roads. Besides I would like to take her on the power tour next year.

The poor Z71 will have to take the brunt this year.

I wish I could go on the hot rod power tour someday that and the car craft anti tour
