Front springs problem

Today we had the hardest time we are putting the front suspension on 1965 c10. When we got to the springs we messed around with them for 5 hours and can not get them to seat in the lower notch without them popping out of the top notch. I don't know if i am doing something wrong when i try to turn them they come close to hitting crossmember on top. I am using Cpp 2 inch drop spindles and 1 inch drop springs. when they seat pretty good on top they are about 2 inches short of the bottom fitting into the notch. I am stuck for now any one have any suggestions?

Re: Front springs problem

Would using an inner spring compressor help....get em in, squish em up, bolt up the ball joints to the spindles, torque the ball joint nuts and very carefully with more than one block/jack/stand under the lower control arm for safety, release tension on the spring and guide the top and bottom into their respective pockets.

I've never used a compressor or messed with short springs but the factory springs usually go in with not too much trouble at all....Get the top in, then bring the lower arm up to the spring bottom and kinda guide/jack/wiggle and PING....then install the ball joints and nuts and done.

Thanks, My helpers went home and I was able to take my time and think about it,doing like you said from the inside worked. I was able to compress them enough to get them where they need to go.
