Windshield washer pump
I just swapped out my washer pump with a new one from Brothers. The old one was beyond repair. The problem is now when I turn on my wipers the pump comes on and stays on until I turn the wipers off. I do not have wiper delay just two speed motor. Why is the pump pumping when the wiper motor is on? Followed the directions which is very simple. Any ideas? Oh, its a '73 model if that helps.

Re: Windshield washer pump
The mechanism is really dumb and over complicated. There are a Schwack of stupid moving parts in there that can stick. Pull the plastic cover and try to observe the function and lube the dry spots. I had the same problem and opted for the easy (and better approach in my opinion) which is to disable your pump and het a reservoir with an integrated pump. You can also get an 80s motor which doesn't have the integrated pimp on the wiper motor

Re: Windshield washer pump
Did I mention how stupid I think that setup is!!!!
You will have way stronger spray if you get a proper in reservoir pump! |
