79 tailgate window

I'm having a problem with the electric tailgate window catching on the latch mechanism bolts while it is going up or down. There is a spring loaded plastic wheel which appears to be installed to alleviate that from happening but the spring on mine is broken and nonfunctional. Does anyone have any ideas about where I can buy a replacement unit (or the spring)? The spring looks like a 'parts peculiar' for this application.

Classic Parts, LMC, and Brothers are all good sources for parts but the Blazer tailgate is harder to find reproduction parts for - that may be a junkyard item.

Re: 79 tailgate window

Oops! - this is my first foray into forums and I see I did not specify that I am restoring a 1979 C20 2wheel drive Suburban. Someone before me replaced the 454 with a 350 (I would prefer the 454 and plan to go back to it eventually). We use it to tow our camper, we are 'full timers' on the road. Been at it for 8 months so far and feel like we are just getting started.
Thanks for the suggested sources for parts - anybody got a clue as to the correct name. LMC catelog pictures it in light print ie: they don't stock it, nor do they name it!

Sounds like you've got your problem narrowed down, but thought I'd mention that when I was having problems on my '77 with the glass mounting bracket getting hung up on internals it turned out that the latch rods that run from behind the handle lever to each respective latch were missing the little rubber donuts (for lack of a better name) that the glass roles on.

Good luck...post a pic of your road machine.
