A few engine ?s

I have a 68 hence the username, which has a 350 ci engine out of a 73 chevy truck and it has a weiand intake, 600cfm holley carb, aftermarket headers, and an hei conversion. all of this was done before I bought this truck and I was wondering what are the chances it has an upgraded cam? it seems to run smooth, so if it does it's no mother thumper or anything, so I was wondering if there were any other way to tell besides pulling the engine apart? Thanks in advance!

Well short of putting as dial indicator on the rocker arms or the edge of the lifter to check the lift at the camshaft I am not very sure there is a sure fire way to determine if there has been a cam change in the motor. Are you wanting more cam? Put one in there Just don't make the same mistake a lot make and go to big for what they have and kill the power potenial and fun and driveability. I wouldn't go over something like comps 268H. I have used that cam several times and it worked good in every case. Jim

Be glad it's not a Comp Thumpr of any kind...

If it purrs like a kitten when it idles... it's probably just stock with upgraded intake/carb/ignition. Thoise are EZPZ bolt ons where the cam is way more involved.

Yep... no way to tell without putting a dail indicator on the lifter. You cannot do it on the rocker arm as the "hydraulic" lifter will compress and give you an inaccurate reading. The other way is to pull the cam and check the numbers stamped on it. Ether way you are pulling the VC's, dizzy, intake and push rods.
