i have made factory style power window regulators at 1/3 of the price of aftermarket ones. they are over 300 dollars i made mine for less than 100 dollars. here is the link to video

i used some motors that are for a 1991 chevy truck and i got them at oriellys

here is the pattern of the motor holder plate maybe you can print it out and use it. when drilling mounting holes i would drill 1/4 hole and one 7/32 hole and tap it and use motor to mark where last hole will be to make sure they line up. the two screw threaded into the plate will need to be ground down on back so the regulator gear wont hit them when rotating.

someone on youtube asked for more of a write up so here it goes

step1 remove the spring carefully
step2 ground down crank rivets and remove it.
step3 ground down the two rivets thet hold the gear to the shaft and
drive them out.
step4 turn the gear down 90 degrees and weld it to the shaft.
step5 trace and cut out motor plate.
step6 cut 1 1/2 hole for motor gear to pass through and drill mounting holes (look at pattern) and test fit motor.
i would the 1/4 inch hole and one of the 7/32 to be tapped and mount
motor to mark the last hole to be drilled and tapped.

step7 time to weld motor plate to regulator mounting plate. look at piture to see how it needs to be placed and welded. put plate in between regulator mounting plate and regulator gear with shim to put a little clearance between gear and motor plate and clamp together to hold while welding. test fit motor to make sure it engauges the gear correctly make adjustments if needed and weld.
step8 ground down welds and paint
step9 assemble and test

this was the driverside passenger side is opposite of driver

I think I got some leftover door parts from that body style truck[88-98] from when I used to build them. If I haven't thrown them all away I will look for some motors tomorrow. I have three trucks to build, it should suit some of them. Are you gonna put the switch in the old crank arm hole? Do you plan on using the old GM style two flat button on the drivers side then the single flat on the pass like would have been there, Or is your int. customized? That is some real good thinking on this how long have you used it? Keep up the good work and the good ideas, that is what this country was founded on and also this hobby that we so dearly love. Jim

i have custom door panels and i plan on using the switches that came with the aftermarket power window kit that didnt have enough power to lift the windows with all the new weatherstripping.

How thick is the plate that you bolted the motor to? Does the motor plate just weld to the regulator in that one spot that is pictured? I was just wondering about those two thing as there would be a bit of wobble on the end of the plate if it isn't supported some kind of way, but I didn't build it , It looks great. the plate is 1/8 inch thick . it is welded in two about 3/4 inch apart one on each side.

I really like this idea! Thank you for taking the time to write it up. Just curious, had you considered or tried using the regulators off the 90's trucks? I know they won't mount in the same holes, but could they work with spacers maybe in a different spot?

The 90's truck regulators are like twice the size of the ones that go in the 67-72 trucks. I would doubt that they would even fit inside the doors. Jim

Great work! I often wondered if another GM power window motor couldn't be "retro-fitted" into our trucks for alot less money. :chevy:

i drove mine out with a hammer and a nail net. mine came out pretty easy but how ever you have to do it is fine. take some pics when there done

I bought those PW motors from Rockauto for $15 a piece recently.

I was going to duplicate the drawing in Sketchup but it appears a couple crucial measurements are missing.

I think I have an extra regulator. I'll try to come up with something a little more precise.
