Fleetside to Stepside

I'm looking at buying a 64, 65, or 66 long fleetside 4x4, but really prefer the look of the long stepside.

Can I install an aftermarket long stepside bed on a long fleetside truck without door modifications?

Thanks for your thoughts or suggestions.

The only difference between fleetside trucks and stepside trucks is the bed. You do have less tire clearance with stepside beds, though. (Something to consider)

:agree::agree: What he said! It will look good but you will lose some space, Depending on what tire width you go with....and hight. :chevy:

Thanks for the insight. Most of the trucks near me seem to be fleetside with only an occasional long stepside. Maybe I just need to take my time to find the right truck.

Re: Fleetside to Stepside

I seem to see more long and short fleets than steps around here too. Especially 4x4's. When I first got mine, the plan was to convert to a fleet but the long step was kinda unique and for me has more character (as if any of these trucks doesn't have enough) than a fleet. The downside is the bed space. Wheel clearance hasn't been a problem with 35's. Finding a camper.... now that's a different story.
