1979 Power door interchange question.

I've got a 79 swb that came with power doors. They are in pretty bad shape and I was wondering what year power doors will work and still allow me to use the correct door panels? Any help would be great.

Re: 1979 Power door interchange question.

Door shells are the same from 76-91

Window motor & regs are different from the 2nd half of 81-91

Best option (in my opinion) you have is to gut the doors and use your regs and hardware if you want to keep your current door panels and power window setup.

Although you may be able to splice the newer power window harness into your old one, make the newer switches fit the older door panels, but you will still want to transfer over your old interior door handles to a newer door if your using an 81 and up door. Hope this helps.

I used 89 burb ,vent windows,glass,87 burb door panels, cranks, newer openers on 78 doors so the older stuff should work,on the new doors
the old ones use metal clips on the rod ends ,newer it's plastic clips
if the plugs are different can you swap the wires over in the plastic plugs?
