67 bumper on 66
Has any one ever tried putting a 67 Fleet side rear bumper on a 64-66 fleet side? I was thinking of using a 69 Camaro gas tank & like the idea of filling through the bumper.
I was looking at past posts & couldn't find any photos of gas fillers through the plate on those years. plenty of 67 & newer but none in my year ( 1966 ). Maybe I missed it. Thanks guys.:gmc2: |

I think it looks better than the 60-66 bumper.

I think it looks like it was made for it!

Re: 67 bumper on 66
I agree. The later bumper fits the style of the 64-66 fleets. I hope to find a decent used one some day. I recall that you use the 67-up brackets to mount it.

You have to use the 67 72 brackets, fyi a 67 t0 72 metel bed bottom will also bolt right in. I know every one likes wood but just so you know.

Re: 67 bumper on 66
Thanks for the compliments guys. I've been traveling so I haven't had a chance to be on here much.
That was a direct bolt on using the 67-72 bumper brackets. Just because I have a bit of OCD, I ended up trimming a small piece of the edge of each side of the bumper so that it better aligns with the back of the bed better. The bottom edge of the 67-72 beds angle in, whereas our beds do not. |
