1957 Chevy truck heater core

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a heater core for my 1957 chevy truck.... I have the heater box and deluxe controls and the blower motor .... The heater core and control valve are missing... Is there a source for reproduction or recored heater cores for my truck?

Re: 1957 Chevy truck heater core

Anyone have a heater core for sale? ive been told that an aftermarket reproduction is not available, and I don't want to spend 600 bucks on a new aftermarket unit to get heat when all I really need is the heater core and the valve.....

heres a pic of the heater core I need ( with a broken valve attached).

if I cant get the original core, im open to suggestions! id like the dashboard control cable to be functional. I know I can always hook up almost any heater core that fits inside the box and put an inline manual valve under the hood....

oh sorry for the confusion - this is not my heater core in the pic.. I found this pic on the internet. I know the valve is readily available...... I do not have a heater core at all... not even a broken one.. somehow it was lost by the previous owner

what I do have is the blower box, the heater box, the ducts and defroster attachments, and the deluxe dashboard controls.

are there any junkyards at all around you ? 55-59 chevy trucks in there - the cores should be the same providing they are the delux heater
always fun to go yardin ; even if you find a blown one a good rad. shop could possibly fix it

im in long island NY. as far as I know, there are no junkyards with classic trucks around here, but I will look into it tomorrow. I may end up using a newer heater core and figure out how to rig a valve into the setup. Someone on here must have the core that I need, if they upgraded to a new heat /AC setup

Re: 1957 Chevy truck heater core

theres a local radiator shop here that specializes in classic cars.... they may be able to custom make the core I need by modifying one that's close to the right size,,, I ordered the control valve...should have it by tuesday, ill keep y'all posted on my progress

Re: 1957 Chevy truck heater core

my idea about rigging a different core that fits in the box is to either
1. find one that has the inlet and outlet 4 1/8" apart, or

2. mount any old core in there and attach bulkhead fittings to the firewall, and just plumb that to the core with short sections of heater hose...

but hooking up the control cable to a generic valve somewhere could be tricky. probably easier to do that on the engine side of the firewall

i going threw the same problem i have the heater box but no core and a car core does not fit ,its to big , im thinking just trying some heater core that will fit and re doing the hoses ,,, but i do know a car heater box and core works you just have to drill a hole in the fire wall
