Re: any body have a 56 chevy deluxe heater core ?

When I was running my stock heater I took the dimensions down to my local radiator shop and got one that was the same size. I modified the fittings to get rid of the internal control valve and put in an inline one. Up here the climate is either you need it or you don't so switching it a couple of times was not a big deal. If you have deluxe controls you could get a longer cable and run it to the inline valve. Get fancy and you could find one with a solenoid and use a switch inside too.

yeah i found another heater box out of a 57 , and was excited the heater core was in it but it was a different heater core , ,,, one of the holes are in a different location ,... and it does not have the control valve inside but same here in Wa state either you need a heater or you drive in summer time , psssst i dont have working vacuum windshield wipers ,, lol

For the deluxe heater you might be able to use a cable operated vave hidden inside the heater box so it looks original.

We use something like this for our school buses. There are a few other styles as well. IIRC certain Lincoln Navigators used one, too.

The heater valve 1project2many showed is a Ford C3UZ18495A That fits a number of Broncos and F series trucks.

If you have good ends on the correct but bad heater core a good radiator shop should be able to put a new core in it.

I have a local radiator shop that specializes in classic cars / trucks.... they have my heater box right now and they're working on a solution..... they suggested modifying a core that close in size, and using a generic cable operated valve inside the box. a manual valve under the hood is also an option, but id like to have the dashboard lever work

If you want to get really trick you could use a vacuum operated valve and install a microswitch inside the control box to operate a switching valve in the vacuum supply line.

Re: any body have a 56 chevy deluxe heater core ?

i did not hook my valve up either , and i don't use the lever , kinda thinking maybe i will after i get a new valve ... but either way i don't drive allot during winter ,, i am just wondering how much heat gonna poor out during the summer time , with the heater core always hot water , flowing threw

Re: any body have a 56 chevy deluxe heater core ?

Jumbo to alleviate that problem you could install a valve on the heater hose to shut down flow during the summer
