Baby Blue Patina

Ive been looking for a nice patina project and found this truck yesterday, looks like its coming home with me tomorrow! Don't know much about the truck other than the sheet metal is what I was looking for. Ill have more details tomorrow.

PLANS

Exterior
- NOTHING!!!
-wash it and see if there is anything too bad that needs to be fixed
-maybe rob the chrome grille trim off the silver one along with the bumpers
-replace the plywood floor with some new wood

suspension
-5/7 drop
-rob the suspension of the silver truck and put it on this one
-wheel is still a question. probably rob those from the silver truck as well or clean up some steel wheels and run a nice hub cap

interior
-clean and possible paint
-new dash bezel
-new pad
-new seat cover
-new carpet or mat

Powertrain
curently-350 with a turbo 350
-pull engine and trans and freshen both up
- throw a cam in and bum up the compression so it sounds like something and has a little bit of power
-headers and new exhaust with a set of flowmasters

how it sets now

This is exactly what I'm looking for and planning to do. Would you mind sharing a few more detail pics of the truck when you get a moment? Also, about what did this run you as it sits? (if you don't feel comfortable sharing publicly, pm me please)

Thanks!

Looking forward to build pics. Subscribed.

1100 as it sits. Ill have some better pics tomorrow.

the more I think about it the more I think Im just gonna pull the cab, motor and trans off the silver truck and put the sheet metal on that frame since its pretty well done. I also want to do some porterbuilt stuff for the silver one so that will give me a fresh frame to start cutting apart haha!

Your "really bad photoshop" looks better than my whole truck

Seriously though, looks like a great start and a cool project!

That is one fine deal there - especially if it's running! I'll be watching this thread as it seems we are thinking the same way.

Still on the hunt for my project but hoping to be in the driver's seat in the next month or so.

Great find!

Well, let me know if it doesn't work out for you. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Price range and all. Ugh!

I need to take a trip to VA anyway.

I think I got lucky on this one. most trucks around here are either restored or rusted to the ground.

come on up, i'll show ya around the shop and some of our projects.

Was it a craigslist find?

Nice looking Va truck! ;) There hasn't been much on CL these days that is worth going out to look at. So at $1100 I think you did just fine. I'll be watching your build from Richmond.:metal:

Re: Baby Blue Patina

I think the guy said the engine came out of a 76 oldsmobile delta 88. I really have no Idea, I haven't really looked at it because its coming out anyway. I'm more concerned with figuring out if the transmission will bolt up to a sbc.

Re: Baby Blue Patina

Seems like an appropriate name - Stink Bug. What exactly is the metal fab work on the back of the cab?

Great progress, btw!
