tallest tire on stock ride height k10
 

I was wondering what the tallest tire I would be able to run on a stock height k10. I would like to run a little lower on the rpms at speed and have a little taller truck. rubbing on turns isnt a HUGE deal, but it doesnt have the best turning already so no rubbing would be preferable

You can run 12.50/33s. 10.50/33s or 11.50/32s (what few are still offered) would be ideal. I had 12.50/33s on 9.75 wide wheels (1st pic) on my '72 a while. They'd run some,but I'm sure the springs are very "settled". I switched to 8.25s (2nd) and they never rubbed

I think 31x10.5x15's look very appropriate on a non lifted k10, 33's really fill out the well, almost too full in my opinion. I think the 12.50 tires wont rub with the 8'' wheel, but do with 10" or wider.

thanks for the replies guys, I needed to decide what size tire I was going to run since I plan to get a set soon. I currently have 31s on it now but was thinking of throwing some 33s on there this winter

Check into 10.50s rather than 12.50s. Mounted on 8" wheels (or stock) they'll fill the openings nicely while staying tucked under the truck more than what you see on mine.

Here is a pic of my '71 K10, stock height on 15 x 8 ralleys and 31x10.50x15's.
Just right size to me and they look good in the wheel wells. In the back ground is my current project, '71 Chevelle

this is what i put on first 33x10.50 r15 rallies but then went with these stock 16" and the tires measure 33" tall

Alright, sounds like I will stay with the 31x10.5s for now, now question I what tires do I buy? I have old bfg trails on it now I was thinking the Goodyear duratracs

Mr.Chevrolet I LIKE your truck and with the 16" tires, looks good that's the size rims I would like to go on my truck. I have 15"s on it now..

Randy I looked for a year for 16" wheels they are hard to find at least in this area.

huh? Why does the wheel width make a difference if they are both 12.5" wide? is that a backspacing thing?

The 12.5 tires are wider, so they will rub the inside of the inner fenders on sharp turns

Pretty straight truck, got to love 67 or 68 K10's. Love the dog, he looks like he's ready to go!

My 70 k20 has 33/12.5's on some 16.5" rims!

Yeah, it was a good deal for 850 bucks. It may be a mismatch of parts, but it's still fun to drive! (that is until the wheel falls off when driving)
