This is why two piece wheels are dangerous
 
For anybody that doesn't know how dangerous a two or three piece wheel is, this video should make it pretty clear. This is why you MUST use safety chains or a cage and inflate remotely. If you DIY, be very careful. One mistake could be your last.

Thanks Studda, extremely good point (and a nasty & sad video reminder).

Splitrims were common in most of the older trucks and, though owners are warned,
this is a very good display of the hazard they can present.

Agreed, they can be done safely, but those who are equipped and knowledgeable
enough, are the talented few who are becoming rare. Especially big truck tires.

RIP to the person that was in the video. Again, quite sad.

That is exactly why at a minimum you need 20 or 30 feet of log chain to wrap the rim/tire when you are doing anything on them.
