Rear brake drums frozen HELP !
 
Trying to remove my rear drums on my 72 C-10...soaked with penetrating oil..heated them with my torch..used my biggest hammer & beat the H*ll out of them...still won't budge. The parking brake cables are released, so that is not the problem....maybe I am appyling the heat in the wrong spot ?? Any suggestions would help.....Thanks in advance guys !

There is an adjusting nut that is on the bottom inside the drum. You can see it through a small hole in the drum if your rotate it to the bottom. Loosen that then beat the drum all around the sides with a hammer.

I remember trying to get the rear drums off my 64 for the first time. I borrowed a drum puller, had that sucker screwed down hard to the point that the drum center was flexing out from the puller pulling on the outer ring of the drum. I just kept beating, heating, and pulling until it finally popped loose. I used heat around the studs since it seemed those were the sticking points.

I already did back off the star wheel...made no difference. The drum turns free, but can't remove it. Guess I'll try more heat with the oxy/acet. torch...where should I direct the heat....around the studs ??

Yep, heat around the studs. Make sure you dont start a fire by burning the penetrating oil

Thanks for your help guys......I got them off today....a lot more heat around the studs / axle flange area & a LOT more aggressive hammering did the trick.
When they go back on, I will be using anti-seize on the area that was rusted on.
