battery gauge

I have a '72 C10 that came factory with the full gauge cluster. The only gauge currently not working is the "BATTERY" gauge in the lower left corner. Was this gauge tied into the old external voltage regulator? I've upgraded the alternator to an internally regulated unit, so have removed the old external regulator, etc. Is this gauge for amperage or voltage? Trying to figure out how to test it and wire it to work. Thanks.

Re: battery gauge

There are two in line fuses on the wiring under the hood. They are for that gauge and I'd start there and replace them if you know your wiring is in good condition.
