Ernie E. 1953 3100 5 window

This is a customer's truck. He had the bodywork and paint done by someone else, but they took the cab off and on a few times and left a HUGE rat's nest for wiring. It's a mostly stocker, and he wants to keep it that way.
It was originally dropped off for a complete EZ wiring harness, but the owner decided to have me complete a bunch of finishing work as well. Here's some wiring pics. |

The bodyshop was also supposed to install the rear glass and corner windows, but said they couldn't figure it out (without even opening the bags of new rubber)... So rear glass and corner glass got installed here.

They also installed new door hinges, but left the door stop springs out (to hold the doors open), so I got to remove the doors, pull the hinges, and install the door stop springs
There was also radio opening issues. There were two nastlily cut notches around the radio delete, for some aftermarket radio at some point in it's life. I used my old 49 dash and cut the patch panels out of that. |

This is a $285 reproduction vent window assembly. Notice the 1/4" gap at the top of the glass? I had to pull the vent, drill the factory rivets, and reposition the post to the glass surround. Nice quality stuff we pay for isn't it? Nice tight seal now though!

Re: Ernie E. 1953 3100 5 window
Thanks Jim, I officially opened my doors as a legitimate business on Oct 1st... I don't think I'm going to be hurting for business any time soon. I have a 72 long bed coming in next week for engine work, and a 67 shortbed coming in mid Dec for an LS1 installation. Gotta pay the bills somehow!
Thanks Gary... |

Also hung the front fenders. Almost done with my portion of this one, just need to install door panels, and a couple minor things. Then it goes home for the owner to take care of the bed and grill.

So I am pleased to report that this '53 went home to a very happy owner yesterday! When I drove it on the trailer Ernie informed me that it was the first time it's driven under it's own power in over 3 years.
Here's some pics before it left. |
