Eaton ho52 or ho72?
Is there a way to distinguish between a 52 & 72? a buddy of mine has a 67 c20 dually originally had a 292 & 4spd. I know it's an eaton, just wondering which it is. What is the differences between them?

Re: Eaton ho52 or ho72?
Pretty sure C20 (as well as K20) came with HO52 only. HO72 was only used on C30 trucks, and had larger brakes.
Also, if a 67-72 pickup had factory rear duals, it was a 30 series and if it had an Eaton, it was an HO72. Then there's the load bolt. All HO72s had it, some HO52s had it but some did not. An Eaton with no load bolt is definitely an HO52. That's all I know without searching. There may be differences in axle size, bearing size, and spline count. |
Re: Eaton ho52 or ho72?
It is a 20 series. Factory dual. And where the hell do I parts???

Re: Eaton ho52 or ho72?
That is the problem with Eatons, the parts are scarce. Bearing and seals may not be so bad, but brake parts and gears are tough.

Re: Eaton ho52 or ho72?
Already found breaks... He wants to regear is. 4.56s and a 4spd... No mileage. And where is this load bolt y'all speak of? And I lied, don't think it's factory dually. Nothing mention in the factory tag. The original owner bought it from the dealership dually. They must have bolted them on or something

Any chance you have pictures of this dually? It's a rare option on c20s, I have one as well

Can you post a pic of your SPID showing the dually option on your C20? |
