Vin decoding

I asked about 68 side marker light bulbs and was told that the 68 doesn't have lighted side markers. This truck clearly has the wiring for lighted markers though.

The VIN is C S 1 0 L Z B 17273 This number is on the door frame and on the glove box door.

The VIN decoder says the 5th digit is the model year. The 5th digit on this truck is "L".

What gives?

Our 68 suburban does not have lighted side markers. Its a very original truck Its a fairly simple thing to add into the existing harness.

That's what a previous owner must have done thanks. Are the lenses the same or were the 68 lenses just reflectors?
