Has anyone built an LS like the Holley Shop Truck???

For reference:

Looking for anyone with a carb style manifold and fuel injection. Preferably with GM ECU.

What exactly do you want to know? Aside from the HUGENESS of that pic, it just looks like a carb-style manifold with a FI 4150 TB on it.

Get Popcorn and beverage, google 4150, end up on YellowBullet. There gets to be a point when ramming boost through a "regular" intake just doesn't work anymore. The 4150 allows you to run the single plane etc style of "old school" manifolds, and there is a lot to be said for them on the tuning/fueling side as well.

I doubt you'll see too many of them on here, as the NEED for one is pretty small among hobbyist swappers. If you pop over to Yellow Bullet or the more hardcore side of LS1tech, they come up more often. Its a pay-to-play thing at that point.

Re: Has anyone built an LS like the Holley Shop Truck???

Thank you BR3W CITY, I guess I should explain what I would like to do. In short:

Pop the hood and at first or even second glance have an LQ4 appear as an original engine. I want to use my original tall air cleaner with intake tube to core support, I plan on a set of coil covers similar to square_peg's, and either the hooker or TBSS manifolds.

I have a GM harness and ECM to go with my engine (2000 LQ4), just haven't nailed down the intake/fuel delivery parts. Wanted dual plane intake that could be machined for injectors but I can't find one for cathedral port heads, would then top with an air-only throttle body and fit my air cleaner to it.

TR65 made a cool adapted box that runs his old style air cleaner, but incorporates it into working with the manifold. Its hard to describe but it comes up if you look under his name.

Re: Has anyone built an LS like the Holley Shop Truck???

BR3W CITY, I checked out TR65's build and it is unique and creative, but not exactly what I am after. After much digging I found a new (to me) package that I had not seen before.

Mast Motorsports Old Skool Intake System

Now to figure out if it is available in a NOT-DBW setup. Whatever that may be called.

Re: Has anyone built an LS like the Holley Shop Truck???

AFAIK it was never made. I saw that a while back, but I don't think it ever made it into production.

Couldn't you just get the Vic Jr that edelbrock makes (already drilled for injectors and comes with a fuel rail), a 4bbl TB and then just tune it Speed Density using the regular ECU....

You lose some choice in manifolds, but it gives you the look you want.

That is one option I've considered, also looking at the GMPP manifold (has bosses for injectors). I have been getting frustrated with trying to hammer out these last details and that was why I was trying to find someone who had put together an LS like this.

Intake options that I've found:
Edelbrock Victor Jr. LS1 #29085 (do not like specified RPM range, am building a daily/truck engine, not a race engine)
GMPP LS2 4-bbl Intake Manifold #88958675 (have to have bosses machined for injectors)

Throttle body options that I've found/chosen:
FAST Air-Only Cast Throttle Body #304149
(am avoiding all the blingy billet ones)

Piecing it all together leaves me to figure out what style of injector, rail, mounting, etc...tired of researching all of them. Short/long injector? Dimensions to machine bosses? Rail mounting? Edelbrock has a dual plane manifold, wish I could use it but it has no EFI provisions.

That MAST Old Skool kit is still listed in their current catalog. I emailed them, waiting for a response.

Thank you for your suggestions/input. You're on the track I've been looking at as far as speed density and factory ECU.

Does anyone build a DBW 4bbl TB? I have a victor jr... was toying with putting an elbow on it... but like the Carb look...

In all of my recent diggings, I found this thread: Vic Jr. 4150 to 3 bolt DBW throttle body adapter (pics inside)

You could always go with something like the Holley system. Has a tbi that looks like a carb and will also run the coils.

Why not just buy the EFI system that Holley put on their shop truck?

If you help me find it all as a package I would buy it this week, black Friday or not.

The Holley system has an air-only throttle body (what the tbi that looks like a carb is called) and a Holley EFI control system for the injectors & coils. I AM trying to piece together exactly what they used on the motor, but I'm going to use a GM ECM, not a Holley Dominator one.

Something like this would allow the 3 bolt TB to be mounted vertical. This was a one-off someone had machined.
